Finance Academy aims at empowering 200 youths on quarterly bases (within the age range of 18 and 44 years)
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (2004), young people aged between 15 and 24 years account for 52.9 percent of unemployed people while those aged between 25 and 44 years accounted for 41.1 percent. Therefore, those in the age bracket of 15 and 44 years account for 94 percent of the total unemployed persons in Nigeria (Osibanjo, 2006). Based on the series of conceptualization of youth in the available literature, the paper aligned with the definition given by the National Youth Policy of Nigeria (2001). Therefore, the youth is conceived to mean male and female within the age bracket of 18 – 44 who is a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
With Finance Academy, we will be able to reach out to these youths with basic finance and business principles via training and mentoring program. Business Skills e.g. Negotiation, Marketing and understanding personal and business finance and record keeping. This project is channelled to bring about economic development to these youths and Nigeria generally. When you empower the youth, you empower the community.
